We are all aware of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Do you agree with the United States' decision to provide aid for Japan? Why or why not? The Japanese death toll already totals tens of thousands, and is expected to rise. Do you believe that a disaster of this magnitude could ever occur in the United States? If so, would you expect foreign allies to provide assistance for the US? Why or why not?

No, I do not think we should provide them aid. No one ever helps us with our problems and all we ever do is help the rest of them. A disaster is a freak accident. Accidents can happen anywhere, anytime. Of course a disaster like this could strike the United States. I don't EXPECT any foreign allies to do anything for us, but I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice.
I feel sorry for the people of Japan, because I'm sure the situation they're in is devastating. However, I do not agree with our decision to help them. I mean, I know it's the right thing to do, but we have our own problems to worry about instead of ours PLUS other parts of the world's issues. I wouldn't say that a disaster of that magnitude couldn't happen in the United States, so I'd have to say, I'm sure it could happen one day. I'm hoping I'm not here when it does happen though. I would expect them to help us, because we help everyone else out, but I don't remember anyone helping us in our time of need.
No I don’t agree with us helping them. We need to help ourselves instead of other people. Yes it could happen here, but it wouldn’t be as crazy. They would never help us. Not in a million years.
I do agree with the US’s decision to provide aid for Japan. The US is a superpower in the world; as such we have a responsibility to help other countries. A disaster of this magnitude could occur in the US, it could happen anywhere. I don’t know if any of our foreign allies would help us. I would like to think that they would, since we help them when we can, but I don’t know for sure.
I think it's always good to help others, but the U.S. is in need of our own help. We should get us straight first, then worry about others. Yes, I believe this could happen in the U.S. anytime. I don't know if our allies would assist or not. I've never heard of them assisting, but I don't really watch the news a lot either.
I don't believe that we should provide anything to them, because they never help us when were in need. I believe that anything is possible so yes it could happen here. I would not expect the foreign allies to provide assistance for the US although they should, they haven't in the past. This disaster was very sad and took many lives. I don't think I could handle this situation!

We help out a lot of countries that are in need and I think that if something should happen, they should help us as well.
I do not agree with the United States providing aid to Japan. When we have natural disasters they did not provide aid for us. This could occur in the United States. If this would happen to the United States, I do not believe other nations would provide assistance. I think other nations do not provide assistance because we supposedly a wealthy nation.

Sometimes I wonder weather the United States should help foreign countries such as Japan. When something such as floods and things happen to the people of the United States do these people send help to us? I believe that anything is possible and that what happened in Japan can happen anything. If something like this was to happen, I do not think that foreign allies would help us to the magnitude of what we the United States. The United States is the most helpful country in the world.
I believe that The United States should help out only as much as we can, because we can’t get ourselves into debit or ruin our economy to help another country. I do believe that a disaster of this magnitude could occur in the United States. I think the worst natural disaster so far in the United States was hurricane Katrina. There are people in the United States still trying to recover from it. I would expect other nations to help out the United States if a huge major disaster was to occur.
I'm guess I agree with the U.S. providing aid to Japan, but I’m not sure. I know that some of these countries haven't really helped us. However, that doesn't mean we want to be known as the country that doesn't help others either. We've had a couple disasters too, but we haven't had any help from other countries. Who knows if this could ever happen in the U.S.? I'm hoping other countries would help us if something terrible would happen.
I do not know if I agree or not with the decision to aide Japan. I think we are not financially stable to be handing out more money and people. I think it would be nice to aide them but would they do the same in return. I think it can occur to the United States but I don't know how it would happen. I honestly think that along with Japan, other countries also would not help in aiding us.
I do not agree with the United States providing Japan with aid. I don't agree because we act as if we got so much money to help all the other countries we need help our own country. I believe anything could happen anywhere at anytime. I strongly believe if this were the United States in this disaster that no other country would help us out. I think they wouldn't help the US because when it came to Hurricane Katrina, they didn't help us out!
