Did you know that previous Jeopardy champions were taking on an IBM supercomputer this week on Jeopardy? Have you watched any of the episodes? If so, what did you think? "Watson" kicked butt on Jeopardy! Does that impress you or worry you and why? What's the most you think a computer should do?
I did not know that previous Jeopardy champions were taking on an IBM supercomputer this week on Jeopardy. I have seen a few episodes of Jeopardy but not many. I thought it was interesting. It doesn't impress me or worry me. I think a computer should do basically what it's doing right now, but not that much more.
I did not know anything about this until this morning when I saw it on the news on my way through the living room. I never watch Jeopardy. This impresses me quite a bit. I would love to have a computer that operates HALF the speed that one does! I think computers should do as much as we build them to do.
I had no idea that Jeopardy champions were competing against an IBM supercomputer. I haven’t watched Jeopardy in a long time, so I have to say that I haven’t seen any of the newer episodes with the IBM supercomputer on them. It’s impressive that a robot can be so intelligent, but it also bothers me. It bothers me, because I feel that the world is coming to use robots more often. I’m not too sure on what the most a computer should be able to do, but that’s a little overboard.
I am aware that Jeopardy champions are taking on an IBM supercomputer. I have watched portions of these episodes. "Watson" was a nice challenge for the reigning Jeopardy champions. "Watson" did an excellent job and was very intelligent, but it did not worry me. Computers have been smarter than humans for many years. I do not feel that computers should replace humans in the workplace, although that will probably happen. Humans should be able to program and control the actions of the computer. The computer should remain dependent upon the programming of the human.
I had no idea about these supercomputers. I don't really watch Jeopardy though. I saw it on the news this morning. It's pretty impressive, I guess. Computers have gotten a whole lot more important and high tech now.
I knew about the supercomputer being on Jeopardy, I have not watched any of the episodes. It would probably be interesting to watch. It impresses me as well as scares me. We use computers every day, all around the world for everything, if computers start to think for themselves then there could be a problem in the future. I’m okay with computers doing everything but thinking for themselves.
I had nol idea they ever played against an IBM computer. I don't watch Jeopardy so I haven't seen any of the episodes. It's kind of impressive and worrying. It's impressive that a computer can sort through information like that and know what your talking about. At the same time it's worrying because if they keep working on this, computers can replace people! I think our computers should be as smart as they can be but not used for bad things or to replace people's jobs.
Yes, I knew that previous Jeopardy champions were taking on an IBM supercomputer this week on Jeopardy. I've watched about 2 of the episodes. I thought it was pretty cool. It doesn't impress me that "Watson" kicked butt on Jeopardy because it's a computer. Computers are much more smarter than man. I think that a computer should just keep doing the things it can do. It basically knows everything, that's why I use it for homework help. Danielle Hamilton(:
I did know that previous Jeopardy champions were taking on an IBM supercomputer this week on Jeopardy. I have not watched any of the episodes. It impresses me that a robot can answer all those questions in such a short period of time without any assistance from a human. The most a computer should be able to do depends on the situation. I do not think that a computer should be so advanced that humans are not needed to assist it though.
I did not know that previous Jeopardy champions were taking on an IBM supercomputer this week on Jeopardy. I have seen Jeopardy on television but I didn’t watch it all the way through. I think it is a smart show but I can’t sit there and watch people answers questions I don’t know or some I don’t understand. The fact that “Watson” kicked butt on Jeopardy worries and impresses me. The reason is because it is cool that they have made it possible for a computer to gain all that information. The reason it worries me is because the computer may be able to out smart humans making us have a less ‘value’ in a sense.
I had seen on the news that jeopardy contenders are taking on a computer. I have watched a few episodes of jeopardy in the past, but I haven’t seen the newer ones with the computer. In a way having a computer be so smart is good, because they could help us with everyday tasks, but I also think this could have its downfall. I have seen lots of movies where robots or computers have got extremely intelligent and tried to take over the human race. Once they get powerful enough there would be no stopping them.
No I unfortunately didn't know the Jeopardy champions were taking on an IBM supercomputer. I very seldom watch the show Jeopardy. It doesn't impress me. I say that because, it takes a human brain to make a computer. So its nothing a computer could do that the human can't figure out.
No, I did not know that there were previous Jeopardy champions taking on an IBM supercomputer. I honestly do not watch Jeopardy everyday. Unfortunately, I have not watched any of the episodes but it does sound interesting. That worries me a lot to have a computer be able to think, speak and comprehend like a human being. I think that what most computers do today such as the one I am working on is all that computers need. If they keep improving we as a people will not be doing anything. There will be a computer doing everything for us and t hat is not good.
Well I did see on the morning news about some robot playing against the top Jeopardy winners. I haven’t watched any of the episodes this week. I don’t really watch Jeopardy, it’s a little boring! It impresses me a little bit, but worries me at the same time. Because a lot of jobs might be lost, seeing that a robot can do it. For example lets a person puts a bomb some where and instead of calling a “Bomb Squad” to deactivate it, they would call a robot to save more lives. Then again that would be people out of a job. I think that computer should do a lot of things but picking specifically what I would like for the robot to do, I don’t know!
I did not know that the previous Jeopardy champions where challenging a IBM supercomputer. I have not seen any of the episodes where the IBM supercomputer was apart of the show. This creeps me out a little bit. We have a computer that has super human intelligence. I think the most a computer should do is have internet.
