In our own backyard...
Were you surprised that a news story like this occurred in Isle of Wight County? What about this story shocked you most? Have you heard any "rumors" since this story was aired as to why Jay Joyner killed his parents? Do you consider Isle of Wight County a good place to live? Why or why not?

Part of me wants to say that I was surprised but the other part wants to say that I wasn't because crime like this can happen anywhere. What shocked me was how someone could be so brutal to their own parents. As far as rumors, I haven't heard any. I think Isle of Wight is a great place to live. This one incident should not ruin the image of the county when it was a "planned" murder. If it was a random serial killer, then people should be concerned about safety.
Honestly, I was very surprised that something like this would happen in Isle of Wight County. I was more shocked that he killed his parents. I haven't heard any rumors about it aside from the obvious fact that he killed his parents. I consider Isle of Wight an okay place to live. It's definitely not the best and it's not the worst. I just think crimes happen everywhere so there's no perfect place to live.
When I heard that this happened, I was surprised that it happened in Isle of Wight County but not that it happened at all. I don't understand why this guy would kill his parents. I don't understand why anyone would kill their parents. I haven't heard any rumors as to why Jay Joyner killed his parents. I still consider Isle of Wight County a good place to live, at least for now.
I actually passed by the house the night the cops found them but I had no idea what was going on at the time. I think what shocked me most was that it was his parents that he killed and that they were old. I'd like to know why he did it though. I think that Isle of Wight County is still a lot better than other places. There are crazy people everywhere so it's not like this county's turning into a terrible place just because one crazy guy snapped.
When I first heard of this story I was very shocked. It just sounds like something that would happen in a movie. The part that shocks me the most is that it was step son. I don't understand how anyone could do that to anyone, especially your step mom and dad. I have always considered Isle of Wight a safe place to live, really wasn't expecting this.
I honestly hadn't heard about this story until last night, nut I was very shocked when I heard about it. The part that shocked me the most was that the guy killed his own parents. I couldn't think of any reason someone would kill their parents.
I was really surprised that a news story like that happened simply because it happened so close. No, I haven't heard any rumors but I have a friend that knew that youngman. I do, consider Isle of Wight County, a good place to live, but I think there are some strange people here.
I was very shocked to hear of the murder that occurred so close to home. Situations such as this do not occur very often in Isle of Wight County. I have been told that the Joyner had some mental issues, and was upset with his father. He killed his dad and then killed his step mom to cover up his tracks. I have also heard that one of the bodies had been dragged to the dump site where it was found. Despite my limited information, I have no idea what really happened. I do consider this county a great place to live, because it is relatively small and rural. Crime is not usually abundant here, and thus I feel fairly safe here, even though once in a while a situation like this occurs.

The rumors are that he was on drugs. I really do consider Isle of Wight a good place to live. This was just a big mental and issue with him.
His parents were very nice people and just wanted to live their life.
I was surprised by this. I can't believe someone would actually kill their own parents like this. This guy has some really big issues and deserves the death sentence. Before the story was reveled I heard many different rumors but I was surprised it was their own son. It's unbelievable how someone would do this especially to their own parents.
